The southbound carriageway of the A9 was closed for several hours at Greenloaning due to a three car accident.
Motorists were advised to approach with caution and to expect delays and are advised to use an alternative route.
The accident happened at Balhaldie around 2pm and caused lengthy delays and tailbacks. A lengthy diversion was put in place until the scene was cleared at 7pm.
Traffic was redirected at Broxden Roundabout at Perth south on to M90 and then to junction 6, Kinross, where motorists are advised to take the slip for the A977 southwards towards the new Clackmannanshire Bridge.
The extent of any injuries sustained in the accident is unknown.
Police were called to a second crash next to the Broxden Roundabout, on the edge of the road closure, just after 6pm.
A spokesman said there were no injuries following the two-vehicle crash. The area was clear less than an hour later.
