A biker killed in a road crash near Coupar Angus has been named by police.

David Robertson, from Blairgowrie, died following a collision on the A923 on Thursday evening.

Police and other emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed off for several hours.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We can confirm that a motorcyclist who sadly died as a result of a road traffic collision on A923 on Thursday, April 5 has now been formally identified.

“He has been named as 32-year-old David Robertson from Blairgowrie.”

He said: “Enquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident are on-going.”

Officers have appealed for any witnesses to the accident, which happened close to the Bendochy crossroads.

Anyone who saw a green and black motorcycle or a black Ford Kuga car in the area before the accident is urged to call police on 101.

The force spokesman added: “As with all sudden deaths a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
