Megafans from across Europe have arrived in Perth for Gary Barlow’s hotly-anticipated city gig.
A queue began to form outside the concert hall a whole day ahead of the Take That star’s Thursday night performance –Â with fans travelling from the Czech Republic, Tenerife and England for the show.
By late afternoon on Thursday the queue was more than 50-strong with fans eager to get to the very front of the venue for the best view of Barlow’s show.
Among those waiting in line was Tony Kay, who makes a living through his Gary Barlow tribute act in Tenerife performing 12 shows every week.
The 41-year-old, originally from Birmingham, said the performance will influence his own act.
He added that the large crowd of Perth fans was “really quiet” compared to the build-up to other Barlow shows he had attended.
Mr Kay said: “We did Glasgow last year. We were there at 10am and by 12pm you couldn’t move. It was crazy, absolutely crazy.
“I think it is just his songwriting, the way he is with his fans. He is just a big inspiration.”
Lesley Drain travelled all the way from Manchester for the gig – which is one of eight shows from his tour of the UK and Ireland which she is attending.
She said: “We started off in Edinburgh, did two nights in Edinburgh, and then we came up here. We’ll go home tomorrow and then go back up for Blackpool on the Friday
(April 27).
“He’s just a great artist and he’s great with his fans.”
Also in line was Broughty Ferry woman Jill Campbell, who made headlines in 2016 when Barlow appeared at her 30th birthday party at Dundee’s Apex Hotel.
She said the singer was “so, so nice” on the day.
“It goes back to the 1990s when, if you were a Take That fan, you were a crazy Take That fan,” she added.
“There was no mediocre, everyone just sort of goes crazy for them.”
Doors opened at 6.30pm.
Barlow kicked off the UK tour, which will also bring him to Dundee on Friday, on Monday in Edinburgh.
