A killer who went on the run from HMP Castle Huntly has been traced by police.
Martin Strewart was locked up in 1998 for the horrific torture murder of a man in Paisley.
After serving 14 years of his sentence, he was moved to Castle Huntly in 2012 in preparation for release.
He vanished on Wednesday.
A force spokesman said: “Police Scotland would like to advice that Martin Stewart, who was reported missing HMP Castle Huntly, by Dundee on May 9 has been traced.
“Officers would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this matter.”
It is the second time Stewart was reported missing, sparking a nationwide manhunt.
