Fire crews are tackling a “significant” blaze on the edge of Perth.
Emergency services were called to Friarton Industrial Estate in the early hours of Tuesday.
Mountains of recycling materials in a yard operated by Viridor went up in flames. Crews said the fire was well ablaze by the time they arrived.
The blaze was brought under control just after 6am, but appliances will remain at the scene throughout the morning.
A fire service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 12.50am to reports of a fire within industrial buildings in Friarton Bridge Park, Friarton Road, Perth.
“Operations Control mobilised a number of fire engines to the scene and firefighters are working to contain and extinguish a large and well developed fire.”
Equipment used during the operation included three jet hoses, four ground monitors, two breathing apparatus and a high volume pump.
Police Scotland said the fire was “significant”. Friarton Bridge was kept open throughout the incident, but motorists were advised to pass with caution.
