Perth Highland Games is moving to a new venue.
This year, the games will be held at Scone Palace for the first time in the event’s 93-year history.
After many years at North and South Inch Park, the historic palace will host what is one of Scotland’s most popular Highland Games.
The event will include traditional games such as hammer throwing and tossing the caber, while over 30 pipe bands – including four world champions – will perform.
Food and drink stalls will be on offer, while kids can find plenty to occupy themselves thanks to an array of fairground attractions.
Stephen Brannigan, head of house opening at Scone Palace, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting Perth Highland Games for the first time in the games’ history.
“Scone Palace is a highly popular choice of outside venue and this is just the sort of event we’re proud to add to our roster of activities.”
Lady Mansfield will also be the Chieftain for 2018, overseeing the competition.
She will be invited to officially open and close the games and hand out prizes to the winners.
Brian Whyte, secretary of Perth Highland Games, said: “We are delighted that Lady Mansfield has agreed to be our Chieftain.
“It’s an important role and an enjoyable one and we hope that she will have a wonderful experience at our games.”
Lady Mansfield said: “I’m honoured to have been asked to take on this special role of Chieftain at Perth Highland Games at Scone Palace and I look forward to welcoming everyone.”
Perth Show is also on the move across Edinburgh Road to the main South Inch Park.
The agricultural show has been moved from Lesser South Inch due to ground conditions.
Vehicles at last year’s rainy event destroyed parts of the grass, which have been fenced off ever since.
No events have taken place at Lesser South Inch since, with work to improve the area still ongoing.
A council spokesperson said: “Perth Show has been relocated to South Inch this year because of ground conditions on the Lesser South Inch.
“Reinstatement works following last year’s event are currently ongoing.
“We have hosted the show on the Lesser Inch for the last three years.
“It was held on the main Inch in 2014 and has also been held at other locations in the past.
“Perth Agricultural Society has contributed towards the costs of the reinstatement works.
“Our intention would be to move the event back onto the Lesser South Inch in future years.”
