A Perthshire primary school pupil has raised hundreds of pounds for charity after donating her hair.
Annie Dott from Aberfeldy cut her hair to raise money for the Little Princess Trust, the charity which helps make wigs for sick children across the UK.
The nine-year-old from Breadalbane Academy has raised £650 for the trust, while donating her hair.
Annie was born with hip dysplasia, which is the most common cause of hip arthritis.
After coming through her own operations, her mother Kaye said spoke of her pride.
She said: “Myself, her father, brother and all the extended family are all very proud of Annie.
“Annie herself was born with hip dysplasia and has had two major hip operations, but we are glad to say on her last visit to see her consultant everything was looking great.
“Around two-and-a-half years ago, Annie went to get her hair cut and the hairdresser was talking about her daughter who suffered from leukaemia.
“She was telling Annie that her daughter had to use the Little Princess Trust to get a wig after losing her hair. At that point, Annie then decided to cut her hair short.
“This summer, her hair was getting long again and the hairdresser mentioned to her how she could donate to the charity.
“She decided she would get it cut short again, but also raise money and donate her hair to the trust. So far we have raised £650 after an initial target of £500.
“It has been overwhelming and we have received a lot of positive comments from people, especially on Facebook.
“She is really loving her new look and currently has some pink through her hair.”
Last year the Little Princess Trust raised more than £4.5 million.
A spokesperson said: “We are delighted to hear that Annie has decided to cut her hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust.
“It’s such a brave decision to cut off a lot of hair but we are hugely grateful as we can use Annie’s donated locks to make real hair wigs for children and young people who have lost their own hair.
“Every day we receive letters and emails from families that we have helped and it is thanks to donors like Annie that we are able to provide this invaluable service.”
