A Perthshire chef is set to make her TV debut in a national cooking competition tonight.
Lorna McNee, who works at the two Michelin-starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, at the Gleneagles Hotel, will compete in the BBC’s Great British Menu.
On the show, Lorna will cook for NHS staff, as part of the health service’s 70th anniversary celebrations.
This comes after the Auchterarder resident was named Scotland’s chef of the year in 2017.
Starting as an apprentice at Gleneagles, Lorna quickly progressed to commis chef then to chef de partie and now runs her own section of the kitchen.
She said: “I couldn’t believe it when I was asked to take part, another dream come true.
“It was very challenging and I pushed myself to the absolute limits of my capabilities.
“When it was over I cried with relief.”
Lorna hopes her success while inspire other female chefs to pursue their dreams.
“I would love to see more women operate at senior levels in kitchens across the country,” she said.
“It is a hugely rewarding career for those can make the commitment.”
The Scotland – starter round is on BBC2 tonight at 7.30pm.
