The Perth Winter Festival is back and it’s bigger than ever!
From the city’s Cake Fest to the star-studded Christmas Lights Switch On to markets featuring the best of local and national fare, the Perth Winter Festival is packed with things to see and do for all the family.
Perth’s biggest ever Christmas party is set to go off with a bang on Saturday, November 17, with live music from singer songwriter James Arthur on a main stage compered by Britain’s Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern.
From noon until late the centre of Perth will have something new for you to discover.
Three stages of singing, dancing and festive fun are spread out across the city streets – Tay Street, King Edward Street and Horsecross Plaza – featuring big name stars and exciting performances to suit audiences of all ages.
Explore the ice caves, watch in amazement as toy-themed ice sculptures are created before your eyes and marvel at the future of entertainment with Titan the Robot.
Then at 5.30, the Christmas Parade (led by Santa) leaves from Thimblerow, before making its way to South Street/Speygate and then on to the Tay Street main stage for the official switch on and fireworks at 6.15pm.
Cake Fest is returning on Sunday, November 18, with bakers of all abilities being invited to take up their spoons, cake tins and icing bags and reproduce their place in Perth and Kinross in edible form.
Each sculpture will then be placed on a cake map of the area during the Perthshire Feast event in Mill Street and Horsecross Plaza, created by Cake Fest head baker Simon Preston.
Once the map is complete, and after the chance for members of the public to view the culinary creations, the tasty treats will then be sliced up and shared with festivalgoers.
For those who like to keep in shape, the Perth Santa Run returns on Saturday, December 8. This fun 5k run features participants decked out in Santa outfits as they make their way around the city centre course.
