Colleagues have paid tribute to a dancing Crieff carer who has been recognised with a national award.
Balhousie Care Group’s (BCG) Ross Balmer, was recognised in the Emerging Talent category at Scottish Care Awards at a star-studded ceremony in Glasgow last weekend.
Mr Balmer, part of the Dalnaglar care home team, became a social media sensation when video footage of him jiving with an elderly lady racked up more than 11,000 views on Facebook.
One person posted at the time: “Moments like this are priceless! Well done Ross Balmer and Yvonne – think Yvonne could teach you some moves!”
Claire Docherty, head of operations at Balhousie Care Group, said: “Everyone at Balhousie Care Group is immensely proud of Ross’ achievement in the Scottish Care Awards. It is wonderful to see individuals at various stages in their career making a real difference to people across our care homes, from staff to our residents and their families, by providing the very best of care.”
A spokesperson at the company said Mr Balmer had joined Dalnaglar just over 18 months ago.
She said: “Ross has found his vocation in the care sector and is currently working in a carer role while studying to become a nurse. He made national headlines earlier this year when a video taken of him jiving with an elderly resident to Elvis Presley was shared widely on the internet.”
The awards ceremony was hosted by Michelle McManus at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow last week.
