Police are hunting would-be thieves who smashed their way into a house in Auchterarder.
The property in the Hunter Street area was targeted sometime between 4.30pm on Saturday and 2.30pm the following day.
Raiders broke a window to get inside and rummaged through a large amount of items that were in the process of being packed up.
Police Scotland said nothing appeared to have been taken and those responsible left the scene empty-handed.
A spokesman said investigators were keen to trace a group of men who were spotted in the area around the time of the break-in.
“Whilst it is unlikely that anyone would have witnessed the break-in take place,” he said. “We have received information that some people were seen in the area, acting suspiciously on the evening in question.
“In particular, a man described only as having a Glaswegian accent was seen in a garden nearby in suspicious circumstances.”
The force’s spokesman added: “If anyone is aware of anyone in the area who seemed to be out-of-place or acting furtively, they should let us know.”
Any witnesses are urged to call the non-emergency hotline 101 or pass on information anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference CR/30000/18.
