Perth Theatre received some divine inspiration as it unveiled its action-packed new season.

Jesus L’Oreal, from hit Scots comedy show Nailed It, helped take the wraps off the venue’s 2019 winter/spring line-up.

Nailed It, which went down a storm at the Edinburgh Festival, is among the highlights of the Studio Season at the Joan Knight stage in March and April, alongside post-traumatic stress drama Wired and the multi-award winning The Tailor of Inverness.

Among the biggest productions coming to the theatre early next year is Miss Julie, directed by award-winning Shilpa T-Hyland, a tale of passion across class divide in 1920s Scotland.

Victorian thriller Gaslight promises audiences a Film Noir-style mystery about a woman who may, or may not, be going insane following a series of strange goings-on in her home.

And playwright Morna Young will bring her show Lost At Sea to the theatre in April. The production, directed by Ian Brown, tells the story of a north-east fishing family through words, music and song.

Visiting shows include life-affirming musical drama Glasgow Girls, real-life adventure Touching The Void and comedy Girls’ Night Oot.

In a first for Perth Theatre, the Manipulate Festival — Scotland’s annual celebration of puppetry and animation — will bring four diverse shows to the venue.

The new brochure also reveals a line-up of music, comedy and performance at nearby Perth Concert Hall, which is also run by Horsecross Arts.

The 2019 programme will kick off with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s Viennese Gala. The classic programme will continue with a full seasons of lunchtime concerts and Perth Piano Sundays, including return performances from musicians Richard Goode, Steven Osbourne and Jeremy Denk, and a Perth debut for Isata Kanneh-Mason.

Nicola Benedetti joins the SCO for an evening of Mozart in early April as part of the Perth Concert Series, which will also include a performance by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

Dance highlights at the concert hall include Brendan Cole’s Show Man and Aljaz and Janette’s Remembering the Movies.

The new brochure is now available from both venues.
