An inspirational Perth woman has ramped up her efforts to raise money for breast cancer support services which helped her through her own illness.

Martine Sinclair has just finished 17 weeks of chemotherapy and will start a month of daily radiotherapy in early January but has selflessly dedicated her spare time to fundraising for local charities.

The 52-year-old has already raised £2,000 through donations and a tea party held in October and is planning at least another three events in 2019.

Martine has set up dedicated Facebook and fundraising pages for her efforts, named Not Norm in a B Cup, which she has jokingly named the tumour doctors found in her right breast in May.

“It went from what I thought was a storm in a teacup to not norm in a B cup,” she said.

In February she is hosting a Scottish-themed quiz and games night at the Anglers Inn in Guildtown, followed by a boxing night in March and a ball in May.

Proceeds will be donated to Perth Cancer Support, Cornhill Macmillan Centre, Breast Cancer Care and the haematology and oncology ward at Perth Royal Infirmary.

Fundraising has been so successful Martine hopes to raise at least £10,000 by the end of 2019.

First, the grandmother is enjoying a stress-free festive season with friends and family before her daily trips to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee start on January 3.

Martine said: “It has been a tough year but it is only one year out of my life and it is a year well spent in the long run.

“I’m hoping in the first year the money will have reached five figures.

“Some local businesses have suggested a couple more events for the Autumn and then we will have another tea party towards the end of the year.

“It has been absolutely fantastic to have £2,000 raised already. Originally I thought it would be good to raise £2,000 in a year but I have been absolutely blown away by everyone’s generosity.”
