A road has re-opened after being closed due to a ‘major’ gas leak in Perth.
Engineers from gas distribution company SGN worked through the night on Wednesday and during the day on Thursday in a bid to repair the problem in St Catherine’s Road.
The gas leak had been identified around 8.30pm on Wednesday, and SGN decided to close St Catherine’s Road to allow repair work to take place.
A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council had described the gas leak as “major.”
Despite on-going work taking place, no local residents had to be evacuated. And motorists could still access St Catherine’s Retail Park as the road closure took affect at the roundabout located beside Marini’s take away and restaurant.
A spokesperson for SGN said the road had now re-opened and confirmed there had been no loss of gas supply to local residents.
