Staff at Perth Racecourse believe that vandals have used an unknown slow-acting weedkiller to destroy the grass at their presentation area.
Grounds-keeping staff noticed the damaged grass at the winners’ box during the Perth Festival last month.
After the popular three-day event, staff noticed more of the grass dying along the presentation area.
Chief Executive Hazel Peplinski contacted the police as soon as she saw the damage, and says she’s never seen anything like it in 30 years of racecourse management.
She said: “After a superb start to 2019, disappointed to have to report to police what appears to be act of enclosure vandalism.

“This is very unusual. We’re waiting on the chemicals which have been used being tested to see what they are.”
