The popular Craigie Hillfest has lured another big name to Perth.
Front man Fish clocked up huge hits with Marillion in the 80s including “Kayleigh,” “Lavender” and “Incommunicado.”
And the gifted singer-songwriter has agreed to an exclusive 2019 live date in Scotland to top the bill, with his band, at the fourth summer music festival organised by Craigie Hill Golf Club and backed by Tayside construction firm Kilmac.
Local bands The Rude Boys – who reformed for last year’s Hillfest – will be joined by The New Madrids, The Carloways, The Sandemans and The Irritable Owls for the event on August 31.
At the peak of their success, Marillion’s prog rock sound generated 11 top 40 singles in the UK, with the classic “Misplaced Childhood” topping the album charts.
After going solo, Fish enjoyed a top 10 album, with five singles charting.
Now he’s delighted fans by agreeing to a Perth date.
Hillfest organiser Pauline Harrier admitted it’s “quite a coup” to reel in Fish.
“It’s fantastic Fish has agreed to bring his band to Hillfest and it’s sure to be another sell-out,” she said.
“He was touring extensively last year across Europe and in the States but his main focus now is a new album.
“Eighties bands are back in vogue – look at the success of Rewind – and we are fortunate that Fish has selected the Hillfest for his only 2019 concert in Scotland.
“We’re grateful once again for the support from Kilmac for making this possible.”
The family-orientated Hillfest has grown year on year, with The Red Pine Timber Company, Eddi Reader and the Rude Boys gracing the main stage, with around 1000 tickets likely to be sold.
There will be a face-painting for kids, a drinks marquee, the return of Ruby the Camper Van, a BBQ and clubhouse restaurant food.
