A trouble-hit Perthshire post office building has gone on the market.
Attempts to reopen the service at Scone collapsed last month. The Perth Road outlet has been closed since January and was due to be relaunched by Bridgend businessman Ian Morgan.
However, Mr Morgan was forced to pull out when talks with Post Office Ltd chiefs fell through.
Now the shop, branded a Usave Convenience Store, is being offered to let by property consultancy firm Graham and Sibbald.
The 915sq ft store is being marketed as a “rare lease or purchase opportunity”.
The double unit – a wall which once split the premises was removed last year – is available in part or whole.
According to the shop’s particulars, the property is available for lease at a rent of £14,000 a year.
The Post Office has issued a fresh plea to any local retailers who may be willing to take on the service.
A spokesman said: “We apologise to customers for the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Scone Post Office.
“We did have an interested party, but unfortunately this has fallen through.”
He added: “We understand how important a post office can be to a community and would like to reassure customers that we are working hard to restore services to them as soon as possible.”
Local Conservative councillor Colin Stewart called on Post Office Ltd to “play a proactive role” in getting the service back up and running.
“The uncertainty has gone on long enough,” he said.
