Police say an incident involving three children in Bridge of Earn has been “resolved”.
Officers said two young girls – aged one and two – were left, for a short time, playing in the back garden of a property in Old Mill Courtyard on Saturday at about 4pm.
Both mothers returned moments later and found that their daughters were gone.
The girls were spotted by the mums a short distance away in Main Street, accompanied by a boy aged nine or 10.
However the force has now confirmed that there was no criminal element.
A Tayside Police Division statement reads: “Police Scotland can advise that the suspicious incident which happened at Bridge of Earn on Saturday, June 8, involving a young boy and two small girls aged one and two has been resolved.
“Officers have identified the boy and are satisfied that no criminality took place, but enquiries are continuing into the full set of circumstances.
“We would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this matter.”
