Emergency crews were called to a Perthshire beauty spot after a dog fell down an embankment.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances and two water rescue units to Campsie Linn near Stanley on Wednesday after receiving a call about the troubled animal at 6.12pm.
Local residents spotted crews rushing along the Dunkeld road towards the A9 shortly before 7pm.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed the force were made aware of the incident but were not required to attend.
Two fire appliances, from Blairgowrie and Perth, and two water rescue units, from Perth and Dundee Kingsway, were needed to assist the dog and its owners.
The dog was safely rescued from the river bank but no further information has been made available on its condition.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed officers had been able to safely retrieve the dog and return it to the owners.
Crews left the area at around 7.45pm. There was no disruption to traffic reported during this time.
