Perth Racecourse will continue its summer season next week with a tip of the hat to the Solheim Cup.
Before the international women’s golf championship at Gleneagles, the Scone track will host back-to-back fixtures on Tuesday evening and Wednedsday afternoon.
Organisers have confirmed the Solheim Cup trophy will be on site during the July 31 Afternoon Raceday event.
Hazel Peplinski, Perth Racecourse Chief Executive, said: “This crazy summer of fantastic sport at the highest level just goes on and on.
“It is a brilliant time just now for golf fans, especially after Shane Lowry’s fabulous Open win and the Solheim Cup coming to Perthshire very soon.
“We are all sports mad at the racecourse and have had plenty banter on the tennis, football, even the cricket, as well as our own fabulous season of summer jumping. Entries look very promising for next week’s double-header and the recent rainfall has done the track the world of good assisting its recovery from a busy season.”
She said staff were excited to welcome representatives of the Solheim Cup on Wednesday. She described the event as a “collaboration which shall celebrate two supreme sports and the positivity they bring to Perthshire.”
Paul Bush, Director of Events at VisitScotland, said: “We are excited about showcasing the 2019 Solheim Cup to another energetic and knowledgeable crowd at Perth Racecourse.
“It is another example of sports working together to celebrate a world-class event taking centre stage in Scotland.”
