Police have issued a statement following the death of a 23-year-old woman at a popular beauty spot in Perthshire.
Emergency services were called to Bracklinn Falls in Callander at around 11.30am on Thursday following reports that two women had encountered difficulties in the water.
An air ambulance helicopter was called to the incident along with firefighters, police, paramedics and the UK Coastguard.
The 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Another woman, aged 25, was rescued from the water. She was uninjured.
A police statement on the incident reads: “Police in Forth Valley, along with other emergency service and rescue partners, attended to the Bracklinn Falls area of Callander on Thursday, August 1 following a report of two people who were experiencing difficulty in the water.
“Two women, aged 23 and 25 were traced and rescued from the water.
“Sadly, the 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The 25-year-old woman was not injured and was assessed at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service but did not require hospital treatment.
“The death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
“Officers would like to thanks those members of the public and emergency services who assisted during the incident.”
