A staggering delivery driver got back in his car after hitting the pavement, before driving down the wrong side of the road and crashing into a fence.
When police arrived at the scene, they found David MacNicoll high on drugs and with a stash of heroin in his sock.
MacNicoll, 47, of Drummond Crescent, Perth, admitted driving while unfit through drink or drugs on the B898 Grandtully to Dunkeld road.
He also admitted having heroin when he was found at the scene of the accident near Dalmarnock Farm, Dunkeld, on September 13.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode told Perth Sheriff Court: “Witnesses were walking in Aberfeldy when they became aware of the accused’s vehicle driving towards the mini-roundabout.
“He drove over the mini-roundabout and mounted the pavement. He got out and staggered towards a bin where he placed some rubbish.
“Witnesses were of the opinion the driver was drunk and should not be driving. The accused turned the car round and drove out of town.”
Sheriff Keith O’Mahoney banned MacNicoll from driving for 21 months and ordered him to carry out 150 hours unpaid work in the community.
