Police are searching through the wreckage of a fire-hit Perth store, amid concerns that someone died in the blaze.
A force spokesman confirmed on Friday morning that detectives were investigating the theory that a dead body could be inside the remains of the B&M outlet in the city’s St Catherine’s retail park.
Emergency services were called to a huge inferno at the store in the early hours of Saturday.
More than 50 firefighters worked through the night to contain the fire, with 10 appliances and three aerial platforms sent to the scene.
The roof of the B&M store collapsed as a result of the blaze, which also damaged an empty adjoining unit.
Asked if police were searching for a body at the site, a spokesman confirmed it was one line of inquiry.
The fire is being treated as suspicious.
