Vandals targeted a Crieff business in a late night attack, smashing the windows of multiple vehicles belonging to the company.
Three vans belonging to Gourlay Events were parked in Crioch Business Centre in the Perthshire town when they had their side windows put through around 11pm on Saturday night.
Alastair Gourlay, manager of the weeding and events company, believes the culprits used a hammer in the attack following “bother” in the town.
He said: “On Saturday night the vehicles were parked up outside the front of the venue where they’re always parked and by Sunday morning three of the vehicles had their windows broken – we think about 11pm.
“They were vandalised – there’s no doubt it was vandalism because of the hammer sized holes in them.
“Apparently there was a bit of bother in the town that night and we were the victims.”
Alastair said the incident could have cost his company business as they usually have their vans on the road all the time but luckily he managed to get them repaired quickly.
He said: “It was a quiet Saturday night for us which is the only reason they were parked up, usually they would be out.
“The vans are on the road all of the time, they usually do 40,000 to 50,000 miles a year.”
Police Scotland said they were informed on Sunday “three vehicles had been vandalised” some time after 9.30pm on Saturday.
The attack in Crieff follows another act of vandalism in Kinross where three vehicles had a corrosive substance poured on them causing extensive damage to their bodywork.
The incident occurred at a single property in Morlich Place overnight on September 14, resulting in the owners of the vehicles having to cancel their holiday.
The owner of the vehicles, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “Two of our cars are in the garage for repairs.
“We’re still waiting for the garage to tell us how badly damaged the cars are. One of them might even be a write-off.
“We were meant to be going on holiday but now we’re unable to.
“It’ll cost us a lot of money – even though we have insurance we still have to pay the excess, and as it was more than one car, the amount we’ll have to pay will be higher.
“The only way we won’t have to pay it is if the police can prove who did it.”
The victim also said another of their cars tyres had been slashed and called the culprits “cowards”.
Police have asked anyone with information to get in contact on 101.
