James Hartness used the messaging service WhatsApp to contact her, even while police were at her home. Depute fiscal Mairi Graham said: “She did not wish to speak to the accused so she turned her phone off. “She turned her phone on again to 31 missed calls and four voicemails with threatening and derogatory comments.” Sheriff Gillian Wade said there was no alternative to custody. Hartness, 48, of Tulloch Terrace, Perth, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive way towards the woman on August 24.
