There’s been a mixed reaction from fans after the Scottish national rugby team backed England in the Rugby World Cup final.
Eddie Jones’ squad face South Africa in the final match of the competition on Saturday morning.
It comes after England beat the All Blacks in phenomenal fashion in the semi-finals last Saturday, winning the match 19-7.
The Springboks narrowly defeated Wales 19-16 last Sunday to make it to the final.
A number of Scotland fans have publicly backed the Auld Enemy in the World Cup final, including legendary lock Doddie Weir.
Writing in The Telegraph, the one-time British and Irish Lions player said he had been swayed from his “anyone but” approach by England’s performance against the All Blacks, and his own time living south of the border.
He added: “As a staunch Scotland supporter, that is a rule I have abided by most of life, but as much as it pains me to write this, I am going to be making an exception this weekend for the World Cup final.”
On Friday the official Scottish Rugby account tweeted: “Good luck to our fellow home nation @EnglandRugby ahead of tomorrow’s #RWC2019 final in Japan.
“Just this once Scotland will be supporting you! Normal service will be resumed at BT Murrayfield in February.”

Many Scotland fans praised the national side for supporting England, however others weren’t so happy with the Tweet.
A lot of supporters took to using gifs and memes to express their thoughts.
Cheers Scotland ??

Well this Scot will be having a full English breakfast, while supporting England tomorrow! (Ps as a disclaimer I still do not like Eddie Jones) ?

I’m a paying fan, season ticket holder at Murrayfield for the last 6 years. I’m delighted to see this tweet. I detest the “anyone but England” mentality. The anti-English nastiness is not welcome in Rugby.
