Police and bomb disposal experts have been called to the Scottish Government’s headquarters following the discovery of a “suspicious package”.
Officers were called to St Andrew’s House in Edinburgh at 2.30pm and requested the assistance of an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The building is believed to have been evacuated.
A police spokeswoman said: “Officers in Edinburgh are currently in attendance at St Andrew’s House on Regent Road following the discovery of a suspicious package.
“Officers are being supported by EOD. Inquiries are ongoing currently. There is not thought to be any threat to the wider community.”
St Andrew’s House is the main HQ building of the Scottish Government.
It is home to one of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s working offices, with the second located in the Scottish Parliament.
