The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice with winter weather due to hit Tayside and Fife overnight.
Wintry showers are forecast to move into the local area overnight from Monday into Tuesday – with up to 2in of the white stuff possible even at lowers levels.
Ground above 820ft could see as much as 4in. Up to 6in of snow could land at the highest levels.
The Met Office’s weather warning – which is in force from 9pm until 11am – reads: “An area of sleet and snow is likely to move eastwards overnight, followed by a few wintry showers.
“Surfaces then freezing, leading to icy stretches. There is a small chance that up to 5cm of snow could fall down to sea level.
“Snow over high ground is much more likely, with 5-10cm above 250m and as much as 15cm above 350m.”
It adds: “Snow and ice may cause travel disruption during Monday night and Tuesday morning.”
The forecaster says locals should expect travel disruption, and be prepared for “stranding” of vehicles.
The warning reads: “Power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected
“A chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces. Bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times possible.”
