A new vision for a five-star Scottish resort has been revealed more than two years on from a fatal blaze.

Cameron House, on the banks of Loch Lomond, has revealed images of a plans for an extension which will bring 68 bedrooms and a new ballroom to the site.

The development has been given the go-ahead from the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority.

The new ballroom will have will have space for 350-400 guests with the 68 bedrooms being housed across three upper floors. They will have balconies with loch-facing views.

The extension will be located next to the hotel’s leisure wing.

Work is due to be completed by summer 2021.

It comes as owners revealed the historic main building of the Cameron House Hotel will reopen in late 2020 following a “sensitive restoration”. Bookings are now being taken.

Firefighters at the scene following a fire at the Cameron House Hotel on Monday, December 18, 2017.

It has been closed since a huge fire spread through the building on December 18 2017. Londoners Simon Midgley and Richard Dyson died in the blaze.

Some areas of the resort – including the spa, the Carrick Golf Course, The Marina, Cameron Lodges, The Boat House and Claret Jug restaurants – continued to operate.

Resort director at Cameron House Andy Roger said: “We warmly welcome the National Park Authority’s planning approval, which is a major step forward in the multi-million-pound redevelopment of the hotel.

“The proposed extension will maximise the stunning views of Loch Lomond whilst fully respecting the architectural integrity of the original house.

“The plans include a new loch-facing ballroom and 68 bedrooms, which will adjoin the hotel’s existing leisure wing. This will bring the resort’s total offering to 208 bedrooms, including 28 spectacular suites.

“The extension will also allow us to increase the number of weddings, functions and guests we’re able to accommodate at Cameron House, and we’re confident these improvements will have a significant positive impact on the local economy.”
