Police have named a climber who died after falling almost 100ft from a Scottish mountain during Storm Dennis. Richard Armstrong was pronounced dead at the scene after the tragedy on Stob Ban, in Glen Nevis, on Sunday afternoon. Nineteen members of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team were called to the incident in “challenging” conditions during the storm. The Munro was battered by strong winds, snow, hail, and thunder and lightning on the day. Mr Armstrong, 42, was from Cumbria. A statement from Police Scotland reads: “He suffered a fall from the path for Stob Ban on the south side of the glen. “The incident was reported to police shortly after 1pm on Sunday, 16 February. “He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was recovered by the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team. “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
