There are fewer people currently in hospital fighting coronavirus across Tayside and Fife, according to the latest Scottish Government figures.
It comes despite a rise in the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 across Courier country, with the overall figure now at 1223.
As of Tuesday morning, a total of 826 people in Tayside had tested positive for the virus, a rise of 14 on official statistics for Monday.
And as of midnight on Monday, 109 people were said to be in hospital suffering from suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the area, a drop of six in the past 24 hours. Of this number, eight are in intensive care.
In Fife, a total of 397 people have now contracted the disease – which is also a rise of 14.
The number of people in hospital in the kingdom believed to be suffering from coronavirus is now 117, a drop of four. Five people are in intensive care.
The figures do not make clear whether the drop in the number of hospital patients is due to people being given the all-clear or due to them tragically succumbing to the disease.
On Monday 121 people in Fife were in hospital with confirmed or suspected cases of the virus, six of them in intensive care. The overall number of confirmed cases in the area was 383.
However the Scottish Government said full data on the number of cases and tests in Tayside was not available at the start of the week, with figures suggesting 812 people had contracted coronavirus in the region as of Monday. 115 of them were said to be in hospital at the time and eight in intensive care.
It comes after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed there has been a further 40 deaths from Covid-19 in Scotland, bringing the tally up to 615.
