A woman has been accused of obtaining benefits she was not entitled to by failing to declare she was working at one of Scotland’s top boarding schools.
Jean Muir, 54, is accused of making a false statement on an application form for Carer’s Allowance in which she mentioned one employer but failed to mention that she was also in employment with the Dollar Academy Trust.
The trust runs Dollar Academy in Clackmannanshire, where boarding fees are more than £32,000 a year.
It is alleged that by her action Muir, of Ravenswood, Tillicoultry, obtained £9,168 in Carer’s Allowance she was not entitled to between November 23 2016 and July 28 2019.
At Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday Sheriff Christopher Shead continued the charge against her without plea until June 16.
