An animal charity is searching for someone with “time, space and a loving home” to take in a Shetland pony and her young foal.
Three-year-old Missouri was pregnant when she was taken into the Scottish SPCA centre in Aberdeenshire in April and shortly afterwards gave birth to son Jefferson.
Carers are now looking for a permanent home for the pair and want to keep them together.
Despite not being handled before, the Scottish SPCA believes Missouri could be a “nice little ridden pony”.
There has been little interest so far and the charity says taking on two ponies is a “big ask”, but staff are hopeful they can find a home.
Centre manger Graeme Innes said: “Missouri had a rather round tummy when she arrived in our care and gave birth to the adorable Jefferson in April.
“Missouri is a beautiful young girl who loves a bit of attention and being fussed over.
“She had not had any form of handling in the past but that didn’t slow her down and she has made fantastic progress. We believe she has the potential to become a nice little ridden pony in the future.
“This petite lady has a great personality and after being shown a bit of kindness will be your best friend in no time.
“Jefferson is also very trusting and friendly and gets great confidence from his mum.
“He is learning more each day and it has been a pleasure to watch him grow up.
“We’re quite surprised that we haven’t had any interest in Missouri and Jefferson yet and we’re hoping we can find someone with the time, space and resources to offer this sweet pair a loving home.
“It’s a big ask for someone to take on two ponies but due to Jefferson’s age we need to keep them together and we’re sure their perfect home is out there somewhere.”
