A man killed in a crash involving a car and a heavy agricultural vehicle towing a digger has been named by police.
Francis Thomas Mooney, 60, died in the accident at Rutherglen, near Glasgow, on Tuesday morning.
Police have not revealed details of the nature of the incident but reports have suggested the digger toppled and landed on top of the car Mr Mooney was driving.
The 25-year-old male driver of the agricultural vehicle sustained serious injuries and is in a stable condition at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Five more cars and a bus were also involved in the incident, on Fernhill Road at 11.05am, but officers said the occupants escaped serious injury and none of the vehicles was badly damaged.
Sergeant Alison McAuley said: “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of this tragic incident and I would continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at the divisional road policing unit based at Motherwell on 101.”
