T2 Trainspotting director Danny Boyle duked it out with stars Ewan McGregor and Jonny Lee Miller in a quick-fire quiz on 1996.
Ahead of the release of T2, the trio were quizzed on what they can remember from 1996, the year that Britpop had reached its zenith, Alan Shearer became the most expensive footballer in the world and the first Trainspotting film was made.
The filmmaker, who has since gone on to worldwide success with films such as Slumdog Millionaire and 28 Days Later as well as his thought-provoking opening fanfare for the 2012 London Olympics, fared slightly better than his cast and proved the old showbiz adage that the director is always right.
