A power outage plunged Scotland’s busiest airport in darkness and left planes stranded on the runway this morning.
A power failure has been reported at Edinburgh Airport shortly after 9am.
Departing passengers were left in complete darkness in the airport’s terminal building and planes were apparently stuck on runway tarmac, according to reports.

Stagecoast East have said due to the power failure, all route 747 services to the airport will terminate at Ingliston park and ride until further notice.
Due to a power issue at Edinburgh Airport, all 747 journeys to the Airport will begin/end at Ingliston P&R until further notice.

Airport officials have promised to fix the issue as quickly as possible, with a spokesperson saying: “We’re currently experiencing a power outage.
“The safety and security of our passengers is priority, please work with us as we fix the issue.”
