All but four members of the French national rugby squad were spoken to by police following Scotland’s Six Nation’s clash with the side.
Officers launched an investigation after reports of a sexual assault in Edinburgh City Centre on Monday morning.
Police spoke to members of the French national rugby side as part of their inquiries into the incident, however the force has determined that no crime was committed.
It came following Scotland’s 32-26 victory over Les Bleus at Murrayfield on Sunday.
The French Rugby Federation (FFR) has confirmed “some players” are assisting with inquiries from the “Scottish authorities”.
Members of the squad are said to have been escorted off a plane departing Edinburgh Airport on Monday morning.
The French Rugby Federation (FFR) tweeted: “The FFR confirms that some players are heard by the Scottish authorities. We are waiting for more information.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Following an initial report of sexual assault in Edinburgh city centre during the early hours of Monday, February 12, police conducted various lines of inquiry, including speaking to a number of potential witnesses.
“These inquiries have established that no crime has been committed.”
Initial allegations of a bar fight were dismissed by police, who said they have not received reports of such an incident.
La FFR confirme que certains joueurs sont entendus par les autorités Écossaises. Nous sommes en attente de plus d'informations.
