The Met Office has told locals across Tayside and Fife to brace for a period of stormy weather.
A yellow warning will be in place from 6am until 10pm on Wednesday with gusts of between 50mph and 60mph possible – with the forecaster predicting “a spell of very windy weather”.
It comes as much of the UK prepares to be battered by “strong winds” from Monday night into Tuesday morning – with yellow warnings coming into force across England and Wales overnight.
The Met Office alert for Tayside and Fife, which covers the whole of Scotland, says travel disruption is likely – adding there could be injuries caused by “flying debris”, damage to buildings and powercuts.
A statement from the Met Office said: “A spell of very windy weather is expected. Gusts of 50-60 mph are possible inland.
“Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.
“Some damage to buildings is possible, such as tiles blown from roofs. Falling trees or branches are possible.
“Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage. Injuries and danger to life from flying debris.
“Some roads and bridges may close.”
