The world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft touched down in Scotland tonight, marking the start of a new service to Dubai.
The massive Airbus A380, operated by the Emirates airline, has a wing span of nearly 80 metres and can carry almost 500 passengers. Each aircraft cost around $445 million to build.
Glasgow Airport has undergone an £8 million upgrade to allow it to host the giant of the skies.
The first service arrived in Scotland this evening.
Airport managing director Mark Johnston has described the decision by Emirates to introduce the aircraft as a “huge milestone” for Glasgow Airport and a first for the Scottish aviation industry.
