A former soldier from Fife is drawing on his combat experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq to help fellow veterans deal with the rigours of civilian life. Ben Donnachie has launched the Warrior Academy for Rehabilitation, a programme that uses fitness and healthy eating to boost participants’ mental and physical wellbeing on their return from the front line. A former TA recruit, Ben served as a fire support specialist for the British Army and was awarded a commendation for saving a fellow soldier’s life after the vehicle they were travelling in was blown up in Basra in 2005. Runners Drew Riddell, Martin Caldwell and Stewart Jamieson at Glasgow’s Clydeside, to celebrate having run an amazing 101 Great Scottish Run events between them since 1984 and to look forward to this year’s Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run, taking place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September. The amateur runners from Glasgow have all taken part in the run without a break since the 1980s, clocking up an incredible 2,130 kilometres between them.

A steam engine travelled through Tayside and Fife on its way to Aberdeen yesterday. Tornado, owned by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, arrived in Invergowrie at around 11.30am having travelled from Edinburgh through Linlithgow and Stirling.
