Police smashed a car window to rescue a dog that appeared to be moments from death in the sweltering Spanish heat.
Local reports say temperatures had reached 37C and the pitbull-type breed looked highly distressed.
The incident is understood to have happened in Alicante on Thursday and is the latest example of law enforcement officers being prepared to damage cars to save their trapped occupants — human or animal.
Earlier this year, Florida Governor Rick Scott passed a bill making it legal to break into locked vehicles to rescue pets or vulnerable people believed to be in imminent danger.
