Eighties boyband Bros are getting back together – more than 20 years after they called it a day.
The Twin brothers – who enjoyed major hits with tracks such as When Will I Be Famous? and I Owe You Nothing – will play London’s O2 Arena in August next year.
The pair inspired teenagers to wear Grolsch bottle caps on the tongues of their shoes in the band’s heyday and were fleetingly sensational pop cultural icons in the late 1980s.
Luke embarked on a Hollywood career (most notably making his mark on the Hellboy and Blade franchises) while Matt has enjoyed a solo career since the split. “As the lead singer of the band, my musical connection has always been with Luke. Bros is Matt and Luke,” he said.
Fellow founding member and Kirkcaldy man Craig Logan, who has since moved on to a behind the scenes role in the industry at the helm of his own artist management company (looking after the likes of Anastacia and Dido) is “more than welcome” to rejoin the band, say the duo.
Bros last played together in 1989 and split in 1992. In a press conference at a Soho hotel, Luke said: “I always wanted this to happen in my heart, but I wanted it to be the right time. It’s a dream come true and the fans deserve it.”
Tickets go on-sale this Friday (October 7) .
