A 68-year-old man has denied being involved in an attempt to break into a safe containing millions of pounds worth of jewellery and making off with £1 million of goods.
Terry Perkins is charged with the burglary of a high-end jewellers in Mayfair, west London, on the August bank holiday weekend in 2010.
He is accused of attempting to access a safe at Chatila jewellers in Old Bond Street containing jewellery worth 50 million US dollars (£40 million) and making off with more than a million US dollars (£1 million) of goods between Saturday August 27 and Tuesday August 31.
Perkins, of Enfield, north London, appeared at Southwark Crown Court and spoke only to confirm his identity and enter his plea.
It is alleged that, together with Daniel Jones, 59, he made off with 1.3 million US dollars (£1 million) worth of goods and £45,000 in cash after targeting display cabinets. More than two thirds of this is believed to have been recovered.
Jones, also from Enfield, denies burglary. Charles Matthews, 53, from Virginia Water, Surrey, denies one count of receiving stolen goods.
They are all due to stand trial on February 27 next year.
