Imagine waking up to find a rogue reptile nestled in your Christmas tree – but worse still, imagine it to be a snake.
One woman did just that. More specifically, she found a one-metre long, highly venomous tiger snake in her home in Melbourne on Sunday.
Here’s the slippery customer in all its glory.

The woman, named Cheryl, sent a photograph to Barry Goldsmith the Snake Catcher in Victoria, Australia, who posted it on Facebook.
Barry wrote: “Cheryl from Frankston got an early Christmas surprise this morning when she found a new decoration had been added to her tree.
She didn’t panic, she just took a photo and sent it to the snake catcher, me, and 20 minutes later I had the little bugger in a bag.
Ho Ho Ho
Have a happy and safe holiday season and be nice to snakes.”
Barry told the BBC that the woman “reacted quite well” to finding the snake. “She left the room, put a towel down as a door jam and came and rang me.”
The snake has now been released back into the wild.
Well, at least the colour of the snake complimented the tree decorations.
