The man behind the Manchester terror attack has been named as 22-year-old Salman Abedi.
Police have also arrested a 23-year-old man following last night’s alleged suicide bombing at Manchester Arena.
Twenty-two people were killed and a further 59 injured in the apparent suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande gig at the venue.
Police have also confirmed they carried out a “controlled explosion” as they acted upon two warrants in the Fallowfield and Whalley Range areas.
The Fallowfield one included the use of the explosive to allow “safe entry”, Greater Manchester Police’s Chief Constable, Ian Hopkins, said.
He added: “I can confirm that the man suspected of carrying out last night’s atrocity has been named as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. However, he has not yet been formally identified and I wouldn’t wish, therefore, to comment further.”

Police were called to the venue following reports of an explosion at 10.33pm, shortly after the US singer had finished her performance.
Islamic extremist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the bombings. Amaq, a news agency tied to the terror group, has made the claim.
An 18-year-old college student and an eight-year-old girl have been named among the victims.
Police say they are still investigating whether he was working alone or as part of a wider group.
