A US Republican politician and several aides are said to have been shot during a congressional baseball practice in Virginia. The “multiple shooting” is believed to have taken place in Alexandria, which neighbours Washington DC. Fox News is reporting that Steve Scalise, the House of Representatives Majority Whip, has been hit by gunfire alongside some of his aides and two law enforcement officers. Local police have posted that they are looking into a “multiple shooting” at “400 block E Monroe St”. The suspect is believed to be in custody. Witnesses reported gunfire ringing out at the YMCA baseball fields, by the Eugene Simpson Stadium Park. Mr Scalise is the number three House Republican leader.
