TV star Stephen Fry has revealed he has been receiving treatment for prostate cancer.
The former Dundee University rector shared the news in a video posted on YouTube.
He said: “For the last two months I’ve been in the throes of a rather unwelcome and unexpected adventure.
“I’m sorry I haven’t felt able to talk about it till now, but here I am explaining what has been going on.”
Prostate cancer has one of the best survival rates when diagnosed early but, for the first time, more men are now dying from prostate cancer each year than women are from breast cancer. Experts say this is due in part to men’s reluctance to seek help and treatment.

Fans have expressed their support for the much-loved broadcaster and author, and Fry said he is optimistic for the future.
In true Stephen fry fashion, this has been the most educational bad news I’ve ever received. Wishing you all the best, you legend.
