Social media users across the UK experienced problems with Facebook, Instagram and What’s App on Wednesday.
People reported sign-in issues as well as trouble uploading and viewing images.
Tech website Down Detector reported a huge surge in Facebook outages on Wednesday afternoon. Thousands of people also experienced issues with What’s App and Instagram.
All three platforms use the same infrastructure.
Facebook said it was working to fix the problems “as quickly as possible”.
The outages appear to be limited to a handful of features on the social media platforms.
On WhatsApp, some users noticed image and video files were not able to send, while others on Instagram claimed they could not see images on their feed.
The problems are not just limited to the UK with Down Detector receiving reports of outages across Europe and the US.
On Wednesday evening Facebook issued a statement on the issues.
It read: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps.
“We’re sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
