Well, I really wanted to report on viewing the Queen’s coffin this week. Unfortunately Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield got there first.
But the most talked-about question of the week remains: Did Holly and Phil skip The Queue?
Hundreds of thousands of people queued to see the Queen as she lay in state.
And even celebrities like Sharon Osborne and David Beckham managed to wait their turn like everyone else. But Holly and Phil breezed past the crowd wearing media lanyards.
That was bad enough – and then they made it worse.
During an absolute cop-out of a pre-recorded segment on This Morning after social media erupted over their easy entrance, Holly said that she and Phil had been accredited as broadcasters to enter the hall, strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event for millions of people in the UK who were not able to go.
You know, that event which had a live stream for all to see anyway?
She said: “Please know we would never jump a queue.”
But they did jump the queue, right?
Why did they not just come on screen and say: ‘Look, we made a mistake, that was not the right decision and we are sorry for that.’
They could have admitted that they were wrong, said sorry and moved on. People would have more respect for that.
But the fact they are still insisting they would never jump the queue doesn’t wash with me.
It’s clear they used their names to get quicker access in to the Queen’s coffin, and trying to cover it up is now making it worse. The general public just aren’t interested.
Masterpiece memes are silver lining
The upside to all this, of course, is the meme output. The internet has been on form, with some excellent viral posts doing the round.
There was this Tweet from Domino’s Pizza, which I fair enjoyed:
Apologies to anyone waiting on their pizza, we've just received an order from Holly and Phil #ThisMorning

And not to forget the ‘We jump any queue.com’ parody of webuyanycar.com – again a masterpiece.
This banter is hilarious.
It’s like being on one of those nights out where someone’s made a fool of themselves and that becomes the butt of every joke – until someone else does something even stupider to eclipse it.
Holly and Phil need someone else to do something mighty silly over the next couple of weeks so people forget about them – and the most talked-about Queue Jump ever.
