Each week, we will take you on a trip back in time with a selection of photographs picked from DC Thomson’s vast archives. This week, the focus is on Lochee.
Our first image shows a group of men enjoying a drink or two at the Old Toll Bar. The photo was taken on February 28 1972.
The second photo dates from September 11 1962, which looked to be a rather cold, dreich day. A woman has her brolly at the ready outside Woolworths on High Street while fellow shoppers are muffled up.
In the third picture, from January 21 1982, a group of ladies and gentleman take part in Bob and Betty Barty’s dancing lessons in the Star Ballroom. Don’t they look smart!
The fourth photo shows a brewer working on fermentation tanks at Ballingall & Sons Ltd on Lochee Road on December 12 1961.
The fifth picture, from September 1939, shows Dundee school children on Ancrum Road making their way to Lochee railway station for evacuation.
The sixth photo, taken on May 13 1970, is of Lochee Harp Junior Football Club.
The final photo is undated but shows a hand loom at a factory in Lochee in action.
